The first thing I like to do is make sure everyone knows I am about to clean, this way everyone will know not to mess anything else up. Also making sure everyone is sleep, or everyone is gone is a big help. Start in the kitchen. A reason to start in the kitchen is because when people come to a house the first thing they see is the front rooms. Start off with washing the dishes. Stop up sink so that no water will drain, run water to the temperature that you'd perfer. It's best to use hot water because hot water kills some germs. Squirt dish detergent into water and lather up the water. Start with washing the cups first, then plates and bowls, then utensils. After you're done with that, rinse dishes by running them under warm water. Place the dishes in a dish drainer that's usually by the sink. Wipe counters, stove, and table. Spray counters with a cleaner of your choice, and use papertowels or a dry kitchen towel to wipe counters thoroughly. Wipe in circular motion and allow to dry on it's own. Then sweep and mop. To sweep, simply whisk broom across the floor, make a pile with the dirt that was on the floor. This way it'll be easier to sweep dust into dust pan. Get dust pan and place by the pile of dirt. Use broom to move dirt from floor and onto the dust pan. When all is off the floor, empty in garbage. To mop, place mop bucket on the floor. Fill bucket with hot water. Add bleach, and Pine Sol. The reason for using Pine Sol not only is it for a cleaning agent, but also it gives the kitchen a nice smell. Make sure when u mop, you are backing up and not walking forward. That way when you're almost done you can be already out the door, so you won't leave marks from your shoes on the floor.
Now, move on to the next room, or the living room. Pick up all objects that are out of place and put them in the proper place so there will be nothing hindering the vacuuming or sweeping process. If there is carpet, vacuum. If there is hardwood or tile floors, use dust mop (dust mops should be used on these kind of floors because a regular straw broom will scratch up the floors). To vacuum, simply plug the end of the cord to the vacuum into a plug-in in the wall. Flip the switch on on the vacuum and maneuver across floor until all the dirt is removed.
Start on the bathrooms next. Begin with the tub. Clean tub thoroughly, preferably with Scrubbing Bubbles or Bleach. These items sterilize the tub and give it a nice clean smell. Use a sponge or towel to clean tub. Move to toilet. Use bleach and toilet brush to clean toilet (make sure when cleaning to use gloves). Use a special sponge for the toilet (sponge should be for toilet only because if you clean toilet with sponge and clean dishes with the same sponge, that's spreading very health risking germs). Clean the counters and mirrors. For mirrors, to get the best shine use Windex. On the counters spray entire counter with cleaner of your choice, use papertowel or regular towel. Wipe in circular motion until all of cleaner and spots(if any) have been removed. Sweep entire floor thoroughly and mop using mopping technique and you're done with the bathrooms.
Move on to the bedrooms next. Pick up all objects and place them in their proper place. Make bed neatly and vacuum. To make the bed you must first pull back the comforter. Straighten out the top sheet and make sure that it is evenly and neatly put on there. Pull the comforter over the topsheet, covering the whole bed. Make sure it is even and that the top sheet does not exceed the comforter. Fluff pillows so they will look nice and neat, straighten out pillow case on pillow. Place pillow neatley at the head of the bed. Make sure that the pillow is centered next to the headboard.
The last, but definately not least step, spray the house with air freshener and light scented candles. There should be no unpleasant smells in the house. Now the house can be sprayed with a form of air freshener. Some people use the kind that you can just peel the label off and that will freshen the house, but a spray air freshener can be used also. Candles can also be used for freshening the house... Use match to light candle. After blowing out fire on match do not immediately throw away. That can cause a fire. Simply run match under water to make sure there is no fire still burning on the match.
